Before we have children we have this ideal in our minds of how we would like to raise them. We look around us and take note of all the different parents around us and how their children behave. We tell ourselves that when we have a child they will be the most well behaved, well mannered, hafidh at the age of 7! And then something funny happens. We actually start to have children and we end up becoming THAT parent. You know which one I'm talking about! The who we used to stare down during the Jumua khutba' because their child wouldn't stop talking.

My name is Yansuf.
When I first saw the magazine I thought, wow, I couldn't`t believe what I saw.
Aunty Sadia spent alot of money to buy the magazine as a present just for me.
It was the first Islamic kids magazine I`ve ever had in my 9 years of life.
I enjoyed looking at the magazine, as I liked the background and thought it was eye catching and attractive to anyone that would be a Muslim. I thought the title of Little Explorers was an exciting one.
My favourite article was Hungry Abdullah, as it tells us the rules of what to do when we eat, and I like that because I like eating! The activities I enjoyed the most was the word search, as it has lots of puzzles in it and I enjoy doing it.
There was a page I saw that was a chart of the things you do and what pleases Allah. This inspired me to write a chart of how many riyals is going to charity. I also thought of making a chart like that myself, because I already try to give my money to poor people and I've already saved 42 riyals in a month so far by doing good deeds and helping my mum and getting paid for it. When my mum was sick i helped my mum and so she gave me more riyals, so i was able to give more to charity.

Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Dearest readers, fans and Explorers of Little Explorers,
Little Explorers is not any old magazine but a pioneering effort to teach children, who are our future, the beauty if Islam, through a fun and exciting way as well adhering to the Qur’an and Sunnah. Little Explorers has a fascinating team which all love Little Explorers as their own and do their upmost to make sure that what they intend to deliver to our beautiful little gems from all walks of life is just perfect!
I, as the Editor, want to keep Little Explorers to be unique and one of my many aims is to bring children out of their comfort zones and try and get them to challenge their own little minds as well as have fun and learn the wonderful religion if Islam. An example that I can share with you is the fact that activities that belong to certain articles do not always follow the article, rather they come many pages after. Why is this? Well the aim is to allow children to challenge their minds and to see if two or three articles down they still remember what they have learnt and if something has missed their busy little minds, then they can read again and learn again. I feel this is a great way of refreshing children’s knowledge as well as challenging it.

Asalamu 'Alaikum Warahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Allah says: "Are those who know equal to those who know not?" (39:9).
The significance of childhood education cannot be undermined; the formative years, are the most significant years in child-development. What a child learns at this stage can greatly enhance the direction of their overall development and it also plays a vital role in the successful progression of all their future endeavors. The lessons learned and the habits formed at this receptive stage of childhood, have more to do with the formation of character and direction of life than all the educational training of after years. As such, I passionately believe that it is our duty and responsibility to ensure that every Muslim child is granted this opportunity to learn about their religious obligations to develop the principles of Islam within them.

Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) blessed me with the chance to study at the University of Madinah and earn a degree in Islamic Law. Now I spend my time teaching university level courses all of North America and England, along with being a youth and family counsellor in my community.
